Research

 

In our Laboratory we carry out research and teaching mostly in metals-related fields. Our activities span the whole chain from basic science to technology. Our core competences are the synthesis of new metallic materials and the fundamental description of their microstructure-property relationships from the atomic to the macroscopic scale.

Our most important goal is to design new metallic materials via this scale-bridging approach and to explore novel phenomena in materials and metal physics. We work mostly at the boundary of materials science and physics, but in recent years we have also moved towards biologically oriented topics via collaborations with experts in the biomedical and clinical fields.
