Martina Cihova wins various awards in 2020

ETH Silver Medal

Martina Cihova has been awarded the ETH Silver Medal for her outstanding LMPT doctoral thesis “Nanoscale characterization of biodegradable, lean magnesium alloys: a detailed study of their microstructure–property correlations.” Dr. Cihova received this award on the occasion of the first virtual doctoral awards ceremony on July 10th, 2020 at ETH Zurich.

Martina Cihova

On July 1, 2020, Martina Cihova, currently postdoc at the Laboratory of Metal Physics and Technology (LMPT), has been awarded with an Acta Student Award for her primary contribution to the Acta Biomaterialia manuscript external page‘The role of zinc in the biocorrosion behavior of resorbable Mg–Zn–Ca alloys.’ The work resulted from a fruitful collaboration between LMPT, the Medical University of Graz, and Empa Dübendorf.

The award will be presented at the Acta Symposium during the TMS 2021 conference in Orlando, Florida, USA (March 14-18, 2021), and comes with a cash prize of $2,000 and a reimbursement of travel expenses to the TMS conference.
