Advanced Characterization and Processing of BMGs

The structure of matter at the nanoscale, in particular that of amorphous metallic alloys, is of vital importance for functionalization. We thus deploy novel characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction computed nanotomography, to visualize nanoscale features in BMGs.

We further explore novel processing techniques for producing nanoscale metallic glass fibers via metal-polymer coextrusion, and study the fundamental processes that occur during BMG casting with the help of high-speed infrared monitoring and fast calorimetry.
